Iceland Trip 2024

5 days of adventure and magical Geography in the land of fire and ice!

In October 2024, 31 excited Cedars boys along with Mrs Corpas, Mr Rix, Mr Magee and Mr Stephens set off from London to Keflavik for a 5 day Geography trip to Iceland.

Beginning with a tour of the highly active Reykjanes peninsular, Day 1 was full of steaming mud pools and rocky lava landscapes and finished with a trip to the Hamburger Factory in Reykjavik via a walk along the stunning Reykjavik bay.

Day 2 was full of geothermal themes, beginning with a tour of a geothermal power plant, a walk amongst geothermal pools and a delicious lunch at the geothermal greenhouses at Friðheimar where we also visited their Icelandic horse stables.

Over the next few days we explored the rugged basalt coastlines around Vik, we completed a glacier trek on the Svínafellsjökull glacier tongue, we completed the brilliant Golden Circle tour of Geysir, Gulfoss and Thingvellir, visited the stunning waterfalls of Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss, took a walking tour around Reykjavik and took a relaxing soak in the Secret Lagoon.

As packed as the itinerary was, we still managed to squeeze in an extra two visits to local outdoor swimming pools where we bathed in geothermal heated waters despite the icy 2-3 degree air temperature!

As a fabulous parting gift from Iceland, the Northern Lights made an appearance on our last evening, dancing across Reykjavik Bay in the moonlight and capping off a truly wonderful visit and experience. We can’t wait to go back in 2026!
